Childcare and education under one roof
Before and after-school care started at the new location in the Ter Does Community School in August 2018. Not only BSO and VSO De Blokhut and Ter Does Primary School but also childcare center De Bonte Koe and the toddler preschool De Barg have a place in the new community school. Ideal: childcare and education under one roof in a beautiful new building!
The Ter Does Community School is a true experiential location. Every child is encouraged to be themselves, and we listen to each child. We encourage the children to (re)energize themselves by spending a lot of time outdoors. What we consider important is reflected in activities that take place in various weather conditions: wind, rain, snow, sun, and so on.
We use various materials, and the activities are focused on senses such as touch and smell, but of course, also sight, hearing, and taste. We value the process of the activity and the experience more than the end result. Because this stimulates all the senses and creates rich experiences, we have chosen a talent word that embodies this. The talent word for the groups at Ter Does Community School is "Experience and Play-Wiser."
Talent-oriented
To make children's talents more transparent for parents, we have created a talent spot in the hallway/lobby. Here, we have talent trees with the children's talents displayed. There is also a book available for parents to read about the meaning of the talent word or words. When children turn 4 years old at the preschool and childcare center, they receive a folder with their work. The final addition to this folder is a "sun." On this sun, we describe the child's talent and what makes them happy.
Especially at the after-school care (BSO), we strive to utilize children's talents as much as possible within the group. For example, if a child has the talent of "visual organizer," they are allowed to organize or assist in organizing activities for the other children. Children with the talent of a "busy bee" are encouraged to help with tasks. When we observe a child excelling in their talent while they're engaged in an activity, we give them compliments and acknowledge their talent. This helps children recognize when they are using their talents and what it means to do so.
De Blokhut
Children from 4 to 12 years old are welcome at the after-school care (BSO). Each group accommodates 20 children under the supervision of 2 pedagogical professionals. There is ample toys and activities suitable for all age groups at De Blokhut, ensuring that every child can enjoy their time and play comfortably.
At the before-school care group "De Kraaiende Haan," children are welcome from 07h00. We begin with breakfast, followed by some free playtime. The pedogogical professional then accompanies the children to their school classrooms.
We offer after-school care five afternoons a week, and De Blokhut is also open during school holidays. On Fridays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, De Blokhut opens at 12h00. On these days, children are provided with lunch.
We enjoy listening to the stories of the day, having some drinks and snacks, and then engaging in fun activities! Of course, there's also time to relax, perhaps by quietly reading a book. During the holidays, De Blokhut becomes even more exciting. We have special activities and fun outings. For more information about De Blokhut, you can read it in the pedagogical workplan.
